EERIE images and video footage have revealed the abandoned remains of a Tarantino style Motel that once refused a refund for a room despite the lodgers being robbed at gunpoint.
In scenes that wouldn’t be out of place in Pulp Fiction, seedy shots show inside the crumbling buildings where old beds, chairs and other furniture are joined by huge piles of rubble.
Other pictures and footage show the swamp-like pool and a barely readable sign for pool rules.
The snaps and video were taken by American urban explorer The Unknown Cameraman at the Family Inn Motel in North Carolina.
“This was an old roadside motel in North Carolina just down the street from the popular “South of the Border” attraction,” he said.
“I believe it closed down due to leaky roofs and mould issues.
“An armed robbery took place at this Family Inn Motel on July 19th 1994 on a wife, husband, grandmother, and son from Pennsylvania while traveling to Florida on vacation.
“At approximately 2am, while they were asleep, two men entered through the door of the motel room, which contained only a push lock on the doorknob, there was no chain or deadbolt.
“One of the men brandished a handgun announcing, “This is a wake-up call!” and threatened to shoot the family if they could not find any money. The men ripped the phone wires out of the wall.”
If this wasn’t bad enough, the police were in the area but failed to spot the robbery taking place.
“One of the thieves walked out to search the family’s car, parked near the room,” said the Unknown Cameraman.
“During this time, a local police officer drove through the parking lot, waving to the intruder as he drove by.
“The robbers left with an ATM card and pin number, seventy-five dollars in cash, two gold rings and two gold watches.
“The family was forced to the floor but suffered no physical injuries. After the intruders left, the family went to the front office & the desk clerk called the police.
“The motel refused to refund their money for the room but offered them another room.”
