The Most Picturesque Properties and Incredible Islands That Were on The Market in 2018

INCREDIBLE IMAGES have revealed some of most spectacular private islands that went on sale in 2018.

From a ‘treasure’ island just 75 miles from New York City where Scottish pirate Captain Kidd was said to have buried his loot to the stunning Horse Island off the coast of Ireland, 2018 had it all.

Wheelers Island, where Kidd was supposed to have left his treasure before being executed in Wapping in 1701, went on sale for £2.3m. The 34000-sqaure-foot island is located just 14 miles from the exclusive Hamptons.

You don’t need to move half way around the world for your own island with the 157-acre Horse Island at Roaring Water Bay, West Cork, Ireland offering something closer to home. The peaceful retreat went on sale for a whopping £6m but the amazing images show it was well worth it.

It wasn’t the most expensive island either with the Shelter Island Estate in Montana, USA hitting the market at just over £10.5m. The 22-acre island features over 32,000-square feet of structures and commands 7000 feet of prime lakeside frontage on Montana’s Flathead Lake.

Another unique island to go on sale was Cut in Two Island West with the 0.8-acre island costing around £2.2m. The two landmasses were split to look like two halves of the same island and it is located in Long Island Sound, Branford, Connecticut, USA.

Or why not head down under for your very own private island in the Great Barrier Reef. Victor Island was priced at just over £1.8m for 7.75 acres complete with a four-bedroom property and white sand beaches.

If history is your thing then Lataro Island, located off the coast of Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu in the Pacific Ocean, could be right up your street. The tropical 800-acre island lies just 25 miles from Million Dollar Point where America dumped their military material at the end of World War Two. It could have been yours for £7.7m.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder but who wouldn’t love Kaulbach Island in Mahone Bay in Nova Scotia, Canada, which was listed for £3.5m. The 11-bedroom main residence offers plenty of room for all your Christmas guests.

Belden Island rounds off the list with the luxurious one-acre private island available for around £1.1m. It could be the perfect property for a homebody, offering amazing sea views from the porch. It is located in Long Island Sound, Branford, Connecticut, USA.
