LOOK INSIDE a crumbling century old Italian-style manor house abandoned for decades by its owner who grew too old to tend to the nine-bed mansion.
These eerie photographs show a huge domestic home where family once laughed and shared stories around the dinner table which has sadly been left to rot into the surrounding woodland.
The images were taken by local photographer Summer Lee Mozelle King (25) at the manor in Red Springs, North Carolina, USA, using a GE X600 Full HD and a Galaxy S6.
“The house was built for an Italian woman and her two children,” said Summer.
“The woman lived there until she got too old to tend to it any longer. After she moved the house sat vacant.
“The house itself is three stories plus a servant’s quarters.
“There’s rooms hidden behind rooms in this house. I found myself getting lost just walking around it.”
The house is 107-years-old and has recently been bought by an owner who hopes to restore it to its former glory.
In one image we see a decrepit but colourful kitchen filled with crockery and it’s not hard to imagine a busy kitchen as servants prepare meals for the wealthy family.
“I see a prestigious woman with beautiful features and a heavy heart. I hear music playing from the piano in the entertainment room as servants scramble through the house to get dinner done,” Summer added.
“I hear the laughter of children and the mystery of lost memories hiding inside these decrepit walls.”
Summer hopes people will fall in love with her pictures of the Italian Manor.
“The layout and design of this house is intriguing to everyone that sees it,” she explains.
“You can find the beauty in anything if you’re looking.”
