Restore UK fascist policies

Why Restore UK’s Politics Should Make Everyone Pay Attention

Reform UK didn’t just enter British politics – it kicked the door down. Riding a wave of voter frustration with the main parties, it positioned itself as the voice of disruption: anti-establishment, anti-status quo, and laser-focused on issues many felt Westminster had ignored for too long. For a time, that message cut through. Poll numbers climbed, media attention followed, and Reform began to look less like a protest movement and more like a serious political force.

But momentum in politics is fragile – and so is credibility. A string of internal disputes, controversial statements, and repetitional missteps has started to dull Reform’s edge. At the same time, more voters appear to be questioning the party’s “outsider” image. Scrutiny around its funding – including backing from billionaire donors – and the growing presence of former Conservative cabinet figures within its ranks has led to many realising that Reform looks less like a clean break from the establishment and more like a rebranded extension of it.

That shift in perception is beginning to bite. What once felt like an insurgent march, blurred into something far more familiar — and far less compelling.

Into that uncertainty steps a new challenger: Restore UK. If Reform built its identity on rejecting the centre ground, Restore UK appears intent on redrawing the political map altogether. Early signals suggest a platform that pushes even further to the right, making Reform look, by comparison, almost moderate. Despite the thousands of shares, Restore UK’s ‘policies’ are cause for concern from anyone familiar with history.

Fascism rarely announces itself with jackboots and salutes. It arrives wrapped in common sense, draped in nostalgia, and fuelled by grievance. It speaks the language of protection – of safety, family, nation – while quietly teaching the public who to fear, who to blame, and who deserves to be excluded.

That is why the policies recently promoted by Restore UK, the political movement led by Rupert Lowe, deserve scrutiny – not hysteria, but clarity.

To understand why, it helps to turn to one of the most respected voices on the subject: Umberto Eco. But first, in case you missed it, here is the Rupert Lowe’s Facebook post, which has received hundreds of thousands of engagements (likes, shares and comments) on social media.

Restore UK’s Pledges

Let’s take a look at just some Restore Britain policies, and you tell me if these make us nazi monsters…
– The largest deportation programme ever seen in Britain to remove those migrants living in our country illegally. The entire asylum system will be abolished. The boats will stop.
– Net negative immigration. Far more must leave than arrive. – If a foreign national can’t speak English, lives in social housing, claims benefits, doesn’t work, hates our way of life – they go too. If millions go, millions go.
– Close entire visa routes from countries proven to supply us with illegals, criminals and sex pests. The immigration ‘Red List’. We will discriminate.
– Fairer spouse visas – so that British men and women can bring their spouses to Britain without the endless bureaucracy and cost currently inflicted on them.
– An overhaul of British agriculture that puts growing and farming at the heart of any policy for rural Britain. Food security is national security. Slash red tape, simplify payments, ease planning laws, encourage farm diversification and more. Crucially, help youngsters into agriculture. We will ensure a level playing field for British farmers.
– Restore Britain will force the British public sector will buy British – it will support British farmers, producers and small businesses.
– We will encourage and fund youngsters to take up apprenticeships and learn a proper skill instead of some bullshit university degree. Teach children at school the life skills they will actually need in modern Britain. –
An education system that teaches, respects and celebrates British history and the triumphant contribution our little island has made to the world.
– Businesses freed from crushing regulation, red tape and tax. Reward hard work. Let entrepreneurs enjoy their success.
– Lowest corporation tax in Europe. IR35 scrapped. VAT threshold doubled. HMRC brutally slashed back. Dividend thresholds raised.
– High streets restored. Safe, secure and welcoming. Business rates for small businesses abolished. Turkish barbers, vape shops and other suspicious businesses investigated. Graffiti cleaned, litter picked. Pavements fixed. We will make Britain clean again, and we will take pride in our communities again.
– We will implement free parking in select areas to drive back footfall from the retail parks and back into our town centres. Councils will be forced to accept common sense.
– Fly-tippers will be crushed under the law. It will not be tolerated. Foreigners indulging in the destruction of our countryside will be deported. – Personal tax slashed. Trust families to spend their money, not the bureaucrats.
– Put pro-family policy at the heart of everything we do. If British families want to have more children, let’s use the power of the state to enable that. Make childcare more accessible and more affordable.
– Reform family courts – so that good, decent fathers, and mothers, are not kept away from their children for malicious reasons. This is important.
– Trust parents to make the best decisions for their families. A limited number of days for a term-time holiday for well-developed children. This is just common sense.
– Restore Britain will make Britain safe again. No-nonsense policing that does what it needs to do. Widespread stop and search back – accusations of racism will stop nothing. Brutal sentences for carrying a knife. Foreign criminals deported, third world sex pests removed before their feet can touch the ground.
– Welfare radically slashed back. Those who can work, will work. Litter picking, graffiti cleaning, whatever else. Don’t like it? No benefits. That simple.
– Support those Brits who genuinely need the help, particularly children, but under a Restore Britain Government the piss-take will end.
– A foreign policy that puts the British interest above all else – proudly and unapologetically. We won’t participate in never-ending foreign wars. We will act when, and only when, the British interest is served.
– Rebuild and rearm Britain. We will have a big stick, and we will wave it when we want.
– A comprehensive support system for British veterans – including fast tracked recruitment into immigration enforcement field roles.
– Arbitrary foreign aid targets that serve no British interests, gone.
– Restore Britain will reverse the creeping islamification of Britain – no burqas, sharia courts, halal slaughter and so on. Cousin marriage will be banned. If you want to sleep with your family, this is not the country for you. This is Britain, we do things our way.
– Anti-white racism, eradicated. No more DEI. The woke bullshit will end.
– Self-defence rights restored. If an intruder tries to kill you in your home, and they end up dead? So be it. That’s their problem. Pepper spray legalised.
– End the war on motorists. Cut fuel duty, no more 20mph zones. Sort out our decaying road network.
– Biological reality respected. Men are men. Women are women. No amount of surgery will ever change that.
– Inheritance tax abolished – for farms, for small businesses, for everyone. The scam will end. Death will no longer be taxed under a Restore Britain Government.
– An infrastructure first housing policy. Developers forced to fund proper infrastructure before a shovel goes in the ground. British homes for British families.
– A Government that prioritises building roads, bridges and projects HERE in Britain. Can you even imagine it?!
– We will purse a British first energy strategy. Net zero will be scrapped. Domestic energy production will be ruthlessly prioritised.
– End the lockdown legacy. Inquiry into COVID vaccine harms, lockdown convictions quashed, a truly independent look at how that was all allowed to happen.
– No Digital ID, ever. Repeal the Online Safety Act. Protect free speech.
– Defund the rotten BBC. Make it a subscription service and let it wither on the vine.
– A binding referendum on the reintroduction of the death penalty for the most evil criminals. One of my favourites. – A national strategy, working from the findings of the rape gang inquiry, to ruthlessly tackle and decapitate the national crime network of primarily Pakistani muslim sexual slavery, torture and murder.
– Restore Britain will end political Islam. Abolish postal voting except for those in genuine need. Remove voting rights for foreign nationals.
– Foreign language translation ended, in the NHS and beyond. You live in England, you speak English.
– The NHS will be restored as the NATIONAL health service. Serving British people as its first and only priority. It will accept ultra-high skilled migrants to work, it will not support millions of low-skilled migrants who contribute nothing, yet take so much.
– Free car parking for NHS staff, patients and visitors on tight permits. We all pay for the NHS, we shouldn’t be ripped off for the sodding parking too. Especially medical staff.
– Medical school caps will be demolished. We will allow talented young British men and women to train in medicine – the NHS will then be forced to employ them over foreign staff. We will prioritise our own people.
– Reclaim our fisheries – take back our seas and take back our fish. We will take back control. Finally.
– The quangocracy will end. Power will be returned to the people through their MPs. Parliament will be empowered.
– Restore Britain will crush the parasitic state. It will all be hacked back in the most spectacular fashion. Unlike anything Britain has seen before. I cannot wait. A Restore Britain Government will protect our people, protect our interests, protect our borders. We will leave you alone to build a business, work hard, raise a family and enjoy your success in a safe and secure Britain.

Rupert Lowe

A Warning From History

In his 1995 essay Ur-Fascism, Eco – who grew up under Mussolini – outlined 14 recurring characteristics of fascist movements. His point was stark: fascism does not need to look like the 1930s to be dangerous. It evolves. It adapts. It learns how to sell itself.

Crucially, Eco warned that fascism survives by manipulating fear, simplifying reality, and persuading ordinary people that cruelty is not only necessary – but virtuous.

Restore UK explicitly asks whether its policies make them “Nazi monsters.” That question, on its own, is revealing. Fascist movements often pre-empt criticism by caricaturing it, reframing legitimate concern as hysterical overreach. If you criticise us, the implication goes, you’re the unreasonable one.

So let’s drop the hyperbole and do what Eco urged: examine the patterns.

How Fascist Movements Manipulate the Public

Before examining policy details, it’s important to understand how these movements operate psychologically:

  • They create a permanent sense of crisis
  • They divide society into “real people” and enemies within
  • They frame brutality as strength and compassion as weakness
  • They promise freedom – after obedience

Once fear is normalised, people begin to accept things they never would have otherwise.

This is not accidental. It is political strategy.

Eco’s 14 Pillars – and where Restore UK aligns

Eco was clear: you do not need all fourteen traits for fascism to take hold. Even a handful is enough.

What follows is not an accusation – it is an analysis.

1. Cult of Tradition

Eco’s first feature of fascism is what he called the “cult of tradition” – the belief that truth has already been revealed in a glorious national past, and that political renewal means restoration, not reform.

Restore UK’s very name is a statement of this philosophy. The repeated invocation of “Restore Britain,” “take back our seas,” and “protect our way of life” frames the present as fallen and the past as purer, stronger and more unified. British history is to be “celebrated,” British identity defended, British norms enforced.

Eco warned that this nostalgia is rarely neutral. It simplifies history into a moral myth: a time when the nation was cohesive, culturally singular, and triumphant. Complexity disappears. Class division and social struggle fade from view. What remains is a story of unity and virtue.

In Eco’s terms, this mythic past becomes a moral measuring stick. Anyone who does not fit the imagined tradition becomes an outsider to it.

2. Rejection of Modern Pluralism

Eco described fascism as inherently hostile to modern pluralism – to the messy coexistence of cultures, beliefs and identities.

Restore UK does not merely argue against specific policies; it frames multiculturalism, DEI initiatives, gender diversity recognition, and even environmental commitments as symptoms of decay. “Woke ideology” is not debated; it is denounced. Net zero is not critiqued on economic grounds alone; it is treated as national self-harm. Islamic dress and religious accommodations are cast as evidence of cultural surrender.

Eco argued that fascist movements define modern diversity as corruption of a once-pure national core. The message is simple: plurality equals weakness.

This framing narrows the boundaries of who fully belongs.

3. Action Over Thought

Eco warned of what he called the “cult of action for action’s sake.” In fascist rhetoric, decisive force is virtuous; deliberation is suspect.

Restore UK’s language is saturated with verbs of force: “crush,” “ruthlessly tackle,” “brutally slash,” “hack back,” “decapitate networks.” The state is imagined not as a system of checks and balances but as an instrument of will.

Eco argued that in such movements, intellectual caution is framed as cowardice. Legal nuance becomes obstruction. Institutional process becomes betrayal.

When urgency replaces deliberation, the public becomes conditioned to see restraint as weakness and power as strength.

4. Disagreement as Disloyalty

Eco observed that fascism treats dissent not as legitimate disagreement, but as treachery.

Restore UK frequently pre-emptively dismisses criticism as “woke bullshit” or politically correct hysteria. Allegations of racism are framed as cynical tactics rather than serious moral concerns. Those who question deportation proposals or religious bans are implicitly aligned with national decline.

This framing shifts debate from policy substance to moral loyalty. You are either defending Britain – or enabling its destruction.

Eco warned that once dissent becomes suspect, democratic culture erodes quickly.

5. Fear of Difference

Eco identified fear of difference – particularly ethnic and religious difference – as the emotional engine of fascism.

Restore UK’s platform includes:

  • The largest deportation programme in British history
  • Net negative immigration
  • Ending translation services in the NHS
  • Banning burqas and sharia courts
  • Discriminatory “red list” visa restrictions

Difference is not described as manageable or enrichening. It is described as existential threat. Migration is tied to crime, welfare abuse, and moral decline – even fly tipping.

Eco noted that fascist movements define the nation in cultural and often racial terms, narrowing belonging to those who match a prescribed identity.

6. Mobilising Resentment

Eco wrote that fascism draws energy from citizens who feel humiliated, economically squeezed, or culturally sidelined.

Restore UK speaks directly to small business owners burdened by tax, workers angry about immigration, parents anxious about cultural change, and communities concerned about crime. These grievances are real and deeply felt.

The critical shift, Eco argued, happens when this anger is redirected downward – towards migrants, minorities, welfare claimants – rather than upward toward structural economic forces or global capital flows.

Resentment becomes a political weapon.

7. The Enemy Plot

Eco described fascist movements as obsessed with conspiratorial decline: the nation is not merely struggling; it is being sabotaged.

Restore UK invokes “creeping Islamification,” “national crime networks,” “the parasitic state,” and systemic betrayal by elites. Social complexity is reframed as coordinated infiltration.

The implication is not that Britain faces policy challenges – but that hostile actors are deliberately undermining it.

Eco argued that such narratives simplify reality into good versus evil, making harsh counter-measures appear justified.

8. Enemies Who Are Weak and Strong

One of Eco’s most perceptive observations was that fascist rhetoric portrays enemies as simultaneously powerful and pathetic.

Restore UK’s depiction of migrants often fits this pattern:

  • Too lazy to work
  • Yet organised into vast crime networks
  • Draining the state
  • Yet culturally dominant

This contradiction is psychologically useful. It makes the enemy contemptible – but also frightening enough to demand extraordinary action.

9. Permanent Warfare

Eco warned that fascism frames politics as continuous struggle. Peaceful coexistence is replaced by siege mentality.

Restore UK speaks of rearming Britain, waving a “big stick,” crushing lawbreakers, making Britain safe “again.” Even domestic policy is framed in martial terms.

When society is imagined as battlefield, compromise becomes surrender.

Fear becomes permanent.

10. Contempt for the Weak

In Eco’s framework, fascism despises weakness while praising strength.

Restore UK’s welfare proposals – compulsory work schemes, “don’t like it? no benefits,” deportation for non-working migrants – emphasise conditional belonging. Support is transactional and moralised.

The distinction between “deserving” and “undeserving” hardens into exclusion.

Compassion is reframed as naivety.

11. Glorification of Punishment

Restore UK supports a referendum on restoring the death penalty and promotes harsher policing and sentencing.

Eco warned that fascism merges justice with vengeance. Punishment becomes spectacle – proof that the state is strong.

The moral line between lawful authority and retribution begins to blur.

12. Rigid Gender and Social Roles

Eco associated fascism with machismo and rigid gender norms.

Restore UK emphasises “biological reality,” pro-family policy, traditional parental authority, and scepticism of diverse gender and sexual orientations. Social stability is linked to fixed roles.

Plural identities are treated as ideological impositions rather than lived realities.

13. Selective Populism

Eco described fascist populism as selective: the leader claims to embody “the people,” but only a certain kind of people.

Restore UK attacks the BBC, quangos, and independent institutions while claiming to restore power to Parliament and “the British people.” Yet minorities, foreign nationals, and dissenters are rhetorically excluded from that definition.

The “people” becomes a narrowed category.

In the case of the BBC, nothing is worse for a fascist party than an independent broadcaster. The alternative is right-wing billionaire owned media companies.

14. Simplified, Aggressive Language

Eco’s final warning concerned language. Fascism reduces vocabulary to emotionally charged slogans, limiting nuance.

Restore UK’s communications are direct, punchy, and binary:
Crush. Restore. Protect. End. Scrap. Deport.

Complex systems — immigration law, social care, energy transition — are reduced to moral absolutes.

Emotion replaces deliberation. Certainty replaces complexity.

Why This Matters

Not every Restore UK policy is fascist. Tax reform, infrastructure spending, or farming support exist across democratic traditions.

But fascism is not defined by one policy. It is defined by patterns of power, exclusion, and manipulation.

The danger lies in how easily:

  • Fear becomes justification
  • Discrimination becomes “common sense”
  • Brutality becomes patriotism

Eco’s final warning was simple: fascism can return when people stop recognising it.

Final Thought

You don’t need to call yourself a fascist to advance fascist principles.

You only need to convince enough people that:

  • Some lives matter less
  • Some rights are conditional
  • Some groups don’t belong

And that all of this is being done — reluctantly, regretfully — for the good of the nation.

History shows us where that road leads.

The question is whether we are paying attention this time.
