“I have been always passionate about nature and its inexplicable beauty, especially when talking about underwater life: sharks, whales and so on,” he said.

“So, as I was travelling a lot and I had an amazing opportunity to capture those creatures in their natural environment and show that in my photo reports.

“The best experience I felt was in Guadalupe Island when a great white shark came to my cage.

“As I said, nature is unpredictable because sometimes you need to wait a long time until you can see any shark.

“So this great white shark began to swim around me for a long time. It was amazing for the fact that I was alone and it was nearly 7pm, almost dark. It seemed like a moment between us.”

David, who used a Nikon D300s to capture these images, explained how patience allowed him to experience these encounters.

“My method is all about being patient and being able to wait, because nature is totally unpredictable,” he said.

“Let’s say, you have to take a picture of a shark, jumping over the water surface. So, what I do is focusing the camera and grab the moment when the shark is out of the water. This might take a lot of time but the result is always worth waiting.

“I’m really fond of photographing sharks, so I want to show to the world the beauty and amazing of those creatures and make my works recognisable to the society.

“The great white shark is not an alone and bloodthirsty murderer, but a skilful and selective hunter with a complex social life despite his bad reputation people try to say.”
