THRILLING images show a courageous warthog mother saving her young piglet from a leopard attack
Captured in Lusaka, Zambia, the encounter began when the female Leopard ambushed the family, catching the piglet.
However, the the brave mother warthog struck the leopard’s abdomen with her powerful tusks and tossing her and the little piglet into the air.
The leopard dropped the piglet from her jaws and scampered into the thicket for safety.
The baby warthog survived thanks to its mother’s protective instincts and strength.
Wildlife photographer Amir Khatri captured this nail-biting action using a Canon R5 camera and a 400mm 2.8 lens.
“I was following the leopard’s movements when this action took place,” he said.
“I was shocked to see this action. For a few seconds, I thought for a minute that the piglet was gone, but then the mother turned the tables on the leopard, and that was breathtaking.
“This whole incident was a clear testament of how brave these animals really are.”
