When we feel in control, it is a little less stressful and can help us soothe our anxiety. Make a plan for how you’re getting around, when you’re going to eat, where you’re going to stay and the other important parts of your trip.

Be as detailed as you need to be to make yourself feel better but don’t forget to schedule in some downtime to relax.

When your anxiety is high, what songs do you turn to? Some people need pump music and other people choose classical music. It’s all up to you.

Make your favorite playlist and make sure to bring your best headphones so you can slip away into your imagination and enjoy your songs. If you can distract yourself from what is causing you anxiety, it can often make the trip go much better.

Don’t leave packing to the last minute. You should have your bag fully packed well before the trip so you don’t cause unnecessary stress cramming the night before.

Deep breathing and meditation don’t need to be formal. You can easily do this in your seat upright without crossing your legs. Taking in a few deep breaths and clearing the mind can do wonders for the attacking monkey mind.
