THIS BRITISH woman plans to marry a man THIRTEEN-AND-A-HALF-YEARS her junior after he fell in love with her the second their eyes met from across the assembly line at work – despite her being in a relationship at the time.
Allison Thomas (43) from Folkestone, Kent, UK, met her boyfriend, Marc Keen (29) in summer 2017 when he came to work as a temp staff at Premier Foods on the same line that she was on. Allison instantly had a soft spot for Marc and loved his sense of humour, smile and kind nature but was in a relationship at the time so didn’t think anything more of it.
Allison ended her relationship in April 2018 and her colleagues told her that Marc was crazy about her and encouraged the pair of them to date. Allison previously thought that Marc was innocently teasing her and had no idea he felt a romantic connection, but the pair went on a date two months later and have been inseparable ever since.
The pair who have been together for eight-months and now live together have plans to get married in future.
However, Allison does admit that she worries that she looks older than Marc and getting older in years to come so tries to keep in shape, but none of this matters to Marc as he reassures her that he is in love with her every day and says that he actually prefers to date a more mature woman.
“There is thirteen-and-a-half years between us. We met at work, at the time Marc was a temp and came to work on the same line that I was on,” said Allison.
“I was first attracted to Marc by his incredible smile and very kind heart, I instantly had a soft spot for him.
“I was in a relationship already then but it was very brief and I ended it in April 2018. After this, some of our work colleagues actively encouraged our relationship as they already knew that Marc was crazy about me.
“I really didn’t have a clue that he felt like that and just thought that he was teasing me up until then.
“We started dating in June, he said he fell in love with me the minute he saw me and knew that I was the woman he had always dreamed of.
“Myself and Marc are extremely happy and totally in love, we have been together for eight months and now live together. We plan to get married in the near future.
“People don’t really question us when we are together as I think they just see how happy we are and are pleased for us.
“Sometimes I worry about me getting old or looking old but Marc actually prefers older women and I try to keep in the best shape possible. I know that he loves me as much as I love him and I know that we would never hurt each other.
“Marc is constantly reassuring me that he loves me for who I am and that even when my body gets older he will still think I’m beautiful.
“He loves me for who I am so who am I to argue with that.”
Both Allison and Marc’s families are accepting of their relationship. Allison gets on well with Marc’s mother who is in a relationship with a man who is 10 years her junior and they are very happy together.
Now they are together, the couple’s colleagues don’t comment on their relationship.
Finally, Allison stressed that you can’t help who you fall in love with and that her and Marc are lucky to be each other’s soul mate.
“We have had a few comments along the way from people at work but nothing really that major if I’m honest,” said Allison.
“Work colleagues don’t really comment on our relationship much now, some just ignore us.
“The fact of it is and the message we want to get across is that age is just a number and love doesn’t discriminate.
“I’m proud of our relationship, proud of our love and this man tells me every day he loves me, so why should I care what people think.
“We have the best times together whether we are out for a meal or just going for a walk.
“We both feel like we are made for each other and he truly is my soulmate.”
