  1. Sicily, Italy

This part of the Mediterranean is famous for its beaches, small fishing villages, and secluded anchoring areas where you can relax and take a dip in the beautiful water.

You will also want to visit the port of Palermo where you can take a break from the boat and visit the historical city. Here you will be able to see the impressive architecture of the ancient Romans, visit a museum or art gallery, or see a show at one of the opera houses.

Afterward, take your time strolling through the historical city squares and get a bite to eat at one of the delicious local restaurants.

Next head north to visit the Aeolian Islands, about 35 miles north of Sicily. These islands are a chain of land formed by a volcano many years ago and provide crystal clear waters and gorgeous landscapes. There are also two active volcanoes in this area, Stromboli and Vulcano, and guests to this area can visit a hot spring or volcanic mud bath during the day and watch Stromboli spit out lava at night.

  1. Tortola, British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands are a popular location for chartering a yacht. They even claim that they have more yachts to hire than anywhere else in the world, and with that in mind then this must be one of the best yachting destinations for your vacation.

The island waters are crystal clear and provide excellent conditions for snorkeling or scuba diving. The landscape is gorgeous and offers wonderful white sand beaches for you and your family to spend the day at.

While onshore, be sure to visit one of the many local restaurants and enjoy the fresh seafood options and Caribbean cuisine.

  1. The French Rivera

The French Rivera is a beautiful stretch of the Mediterranean that has plenty of great beaches and gorgeous scenery to explore. The coastline is a great mixture of natural rugged landscapes and the more developed resort areas of Nice, Monte Carlo, and Cannes.

If you are looking to emerge yourself into the French nightlife scene, head ashore in any one of these resort towns. If crowds aren’t your thing, sail further down and visit one of the more peaceful towns of Port Cros or Porquerolles. Here you can take it easy and spend a relaxing day on the beach.

This area is also full of historical locations and architecture for you to see while you are not enjoying the water.

  1. Whitsunday Islands, Australia

Located along the northeastern coast of Australia are the Whitsunday Islands. These islands are located in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef making it the perfect place to yacht hire if you are interested in trying various water sports such as scuba diving and snorkeling.

Out of the many Whitsunday Islands, only eight of them are inhabited. There are plenty of smaller islands that have no population and have nice beaches to visit.

Bauer Bay is a great place to set anchor and travel to the top of the island for a great view. Blue Pearl Bay is known for its top-notch snorkeling and opportunities to sight whales.

Be sure to spend some time at Whitehaven Beach, with its pure white sand, great views, and beautiful sunsets. It has been rated as one of the best beaches in the world and you will quickly see why once you have spent the day there.

  1. Croatia

Croatia is another beautiful location to visit in the Mediterranean. There are many beautiful landscapes of islands to sail amongst, including the wild and mainly unoccupied Dalmatian Islands.

This area is also rich in history so you will want to anchor and visit some of the many ancient villages and learn about the local history. West and South Istria are also known for their delicious cuisine and interesting culture.

The weather is best for swimming during the months of April and May. If you come early enough in the season you may find a cove that is secluded from the crowds and enjoy your own private beach.

  1. Seychelles Islands

The east coast of Africa is home to the Seychelles Islands. Just south of the Equator, the climate is favorable year-round for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving where you can see coral atolls and interesting fish in the turquoise waters.

The largest island, Mahe, is the most developed and is worth exploring one of the many hiking trails that span over the mountain range. These islands are a perfect yacht destination with 44 miles of coastline and pristine beaches.

  1. Fiji
