AN UBER driver has been caught on camera potentially endangering his and his passengers’ lives after texting while driving through a busy city.
The deplorable footage begins with the driver swerving in and out of lanes, which he did without indicating, according the passenger.
The driver can then clearly be seen texting on his mobile while sat in traffic at a red light. He continues to text as he drives off from the traffic lights before being told off by the passenger.
The passenger, who did not wish to be named, filmed the Uber driver in Toronto on June 26th in order to have evidence when he filed a complaint with Uber.
“You see my Uber driver disobeying traffic laws including not signalling and swerving, running a red light and texting while driving,” he said.
“I got a little heated at first. I said: “Hey Buddy, do you mind putting down your phone?’
“And when he didn’t really hear me I said: ‘You’re f***ing driving, put your phone down.’”
The passenger contacted Uber after his trip and was given a refund although he said the company haven’t responded to his video.
Many people have contacted the unnamed passenger to share their disgust at the Uber driver’s actions.
“They have said that the guy shouldn’t be driving,” he said.
“They think it was very irresponsible and reckless of the guy to be texting and driving like a lunatic with passengers in his car.
“Some people think he didn’t do anything wrong but I think the video clearly shows he did.
“Pay attention to the road and think about others safety. Especially when you have customers in your vehicle.”
