Jessica Beniquez (21), from Florida, USA, weighed more than 320lbs but knew drastic change was needed after watching One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl start to finish, back to back on the popular streaming service. This would have taken around 272 hours, which is more than 11 days.

The teaching assistant, who now weighs 165lbs, changed her diet completely and gave up all fizzy drinks and started to eat vegetables which she’d never touched before.

“Being overweight my whole life definitely took a toll on my body,” she said.

“I was always tired, my feet always hurt and I would just want to lay in bed all day and watch movies. I felt sluggish 24/7 and just super uncomfortable with the way I looked and felt.

“I always wanted to lose weight, but I never knew how to start. I sat in bed for two months straight watching One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl on Netflix until all seasons on both shows were finished.

“I was about to start another show but then realised I couldn’t keep doing what I was doing. I didn’t like the way my life was headed.

“So, in that moment I decided it wasn’t going to be me just wanting it, I was going to actually do something about it.”

Jessica, who was a UK size 26, has dropped to a UK size 12 after replacing her Netflix binges with exercise every day and ditching her carb-laden diet for vegetables and lots of protein.

“I was always a very picky eater and I was never forced to try new things so I always ate the wrong kind of food,” she explained.

“Over eating wasn’t why I was heavy, it was because I chose the wrong kind of food.

“I cut soda completely out of my diet. I used to calorie count but I was never super strict about it. I watch for carbs but I don’t really count those either.

“I don’t eat foods with high sugar and I eat vegetables which I never ate before.”

Jessica said her dramatic weight loss has made a huge positive impact on her life and has advice for anyone else just starting out on their weight loss journey.

“Losing weight has changed so much,” she added. “My confidence, my energy, I can walk into the junior section of a store and find things that fit which I could never do before.

“I would have never imagined so many people following me on my journey and supporting everything I do. I’m so thankful.

“The best advice I could give someone who is trying to lose weight is, first, stop drinking soda. Second is portion control. You can eat pretty much anything, just know your limit and don’t over eat whatever it is you’re eating.

“And third is consistency is so important. You cannot give up no matter how hard it is and if you don’t see results right away, don’t give up.

“You have to have patient when it comes to losing weight so don’t get discouraged. You just have to want it more than anything and you’ll hit your goal in no time.”
