It’s No Choke

HOW ABOUT that for a gobstopper? Incredible images have caught a cormorant struggling to swallow a fish as it gets lodged in its throat.

Action shots show the cormorant struggle with the perch species of fish after plucking it out of the water intent on a tasty meal.

The cormorant seems to swallow the fish whole but the outline of the perch is clearly visible in the bird’s neck as it slides down.

Meanwhile a Great white egret and Grey heron are pictured fighting over their food as neither wants to relinquish the tasty fish.

The spectacular sequence of nature at work was captured in Hungary by Finnish wildlife photographer Markus Varesvuo (56) from Helsinki.
