Love Under the Sea

HEART-WARMING photographs of fish and dolphins as they put on a romantic underwater display just in time for Valentine’s.

These initially cute images have a sinister twist as the pod of dolphins have rounded up the heart-shaped school for a tasty fish-dinner.

The shots were captured by Christopher Swann (59) in the Azores, Portugal. He used a Nikon D700 and Ikelite underwater housing.

“The hardest thing is to find this scene in the first place. You spend years looking for things like that,” he said.
“Then you need clear water, calmish seas and the opportunity to get in the water.
“Once in [the water] the issues are the light and the animals as they move constantly and much more quickly than I can.”

The fin-tastic images show a huge group of dolphins feasting on hundreds of fish in a whirl of bubbles.

In other photos sneaky seagulls can be seen diving into the water to prey on the school themselves.

Christopher hopes his photography displays the wonder of nature.
“I love looking for and finding great sights in nature. On this occasion everyone was overwhelmed,” he said.
